Madhyamaka Centre offers a wide range of meditation courses and retreats.

Whether you are new to meditation or already have a practice and are looking to move forward, you will find a course to suit you.

All the meditations taught at the centre are Buddhist practices, but you do not have to be a Buddhist to learn them - or to benefit from them.

You are welcome to visit the centre, whether to attend a course or simply to spend a few hours enjoying the peace and tranquility of the house and grounds.

Easter Course:
Taking Control of Our Lives
21st - 24th March

We all reach points in our life when we wonder where we are going and question what we are doing.
Most people want their lives to have meaning and purpose, but exactly what does that mean?
Gen Kelsang Tubpa will explain how through changing our view and intention and learning to become and “inner being”, we can enjoy and meaningful, fulfilled and very happy life.
When we are happy those around us can become happy. What a wonderful gift for others!

The course will consist of teachings, guided meditations and a question time each day.
It is suitable for those new to Buddha’s teachings and for those who are already following the Buddhist way of life.

Northern Dharma Celebration: Medicine Buddha Empowerment

2nd - 4th May

with Gen-la Kelsang Khyenrab
Madhyamaka Centre is very happy to welcome Gen-la Khyenrab, Buddhist monk and Deputy Spiritual Director of the NKT to teach the second Northern Dharma Celebration. This event will be organised jointly by several of the northern Dharma Centres and will bring many hundreds of people to Madhyamaka Centre over the bank holiday week-end. Gen-la Khyenrab will grant the empowerment of Medicine Buddha, and give a commentary to the practice, Medicine Buddha Sadhana By unifying our sutra practice of love with the tantric self-generation practice of Medicine Buddha, powerful purification of our body and mind can take place thereby removing the root causes of sickness. Through becoming our own healer we also gain a special power to heal others. The celebration promises to be a very memorable event for all.

Day Course:
Freedom from Fear

This course looks at the reasons why we develop fear and how to build inner strength and protection. The Buddhist path leads to fearlessness; and for those who feel moved by the teachings to follow this path, there will be a concluding Mahayana Refuge Ceremony at the end of the course.

Summer Course:
From a Still and Peaceful Place

Many of us are perhaps coming from a stressful or anxious place. How can we transform ourselves and relate to life from a still and peaceful place within? A relaxed and light programme is planned, including barbecues, walks in the countryside and quiet time for reflection.

'Awakening Our Compassionate Heart'- A Retreat of 1000 Armed Avalokiteshvara
10th - 16th Aug

In the beautiful and blessed environment of Madhyamaka Centre we can meditate together following the instructions we received from Venerable Geshe-la at the Summer Festival. Through engaging in the practice of Buddha Avalokiteshvara, we will maintain the blessings of the empowerment and nurture our potential for the supreme good heart of bodhichitta.

By relying sincerely on the Buddha of Compassion we will soon develop energy and enthusiasm to work for the benefit of others, become a friend of the world, and enjoy the happiness of full enlightenment. All sessions are led by the Centre's Resident Teacher Gen Kelsang Tubpa.
