Volunteering Visits

Enjoy making a difference

A great way to experience life at Madhyamaka KMC is to come on a volunteering visit.

In exchange for 25 hours work a week (spread over five days), you receive: seven days free dormitory accommodation, three vegetarian meals a day, full use of all the centre’s facilities and free attendance at meditation classes during your stay. It is also a unique opportunity to meet and work alongside members of the residential community and to find out more about the Buddhist way of life. You can choose between general volunteering visits and month-long cafe volunteering visits.

World Peace Cafe Pocklington VolunteeringWorld Peace Cafe: one-month volunteering visits

These volunteering visits last for approximately a month and you will spend your time in the busy World Peace Cafe, serving the public in a friendly environment of customers and other volunteers.

You would arrive on a Sunday and depart on a Monday, and receive two days off a week in exchange for five days in the cafe. You would need to be friendly and presentable, and enjoy working with others. The cafe is open 7-days a week.

The World Peace Cafe is in a beautiful setting, with stunning views. It is located on busy walking and cycling routes and many of these people pop in for coffee, a cake or a panini! Ideally you would have previous experience working with food and / or in customer service environments.
Accommodation is in either male or female dorm – please bring your own sleeping bag and towel.
